If you're one of the many people who have been wanting experiment or troubleshoot car problems with the OBD-II diagnostic interface on 1996 and later model cars and light trucks, your time has arrived. Harrison R&D is making available a complete scan tool interface with Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP compatible software to turn your IBM compatible computer or laptop into a high quality scan tool, suitable for the professional or shadetree mechanics alike. The OBDScan comes with the protocol converter, 6 ft. RS-232 and 3ft OBD-II cables, installation disks and OBDScan manual on disk. Computer can be up to 50ft away using RS232 extension cable (not included). Dealers charge up to $100.00 to "scan" a car with the "Check Engine" light on to diagnose the problem. With only one use, the OBDScantm can nearly pay for it's self. Read about using OBDScan to find and repair problems.

Our Data Log function allows you to view and record up to 6 sensors simultaneously.  The data is recorded at a user selectable rate or as fast as the vehicle will respond.  We now have programmable triggers based on Vehicle Speed, RPM or System Time.  The triggers can be used individually or in a AND/OR fashion.  As an example, to start recording data only when Speed is equal to or greater than 20MPH AND rpm is greater or equal to 3000, you would select SPEED in Trigger 1 and RPM in Trigger 2.  Select the AND in the AND/OR drop down box then click Start Log to wait for the trigger condition to be met.  Data collection will start when both SPEED and RPM condition has been met. Data is time stamped and comma delimited for easy import into Excel or Star Office

Some 2001 and later cars, especially turbos, are using Wide Band O2 sensors.  These sensors normally do not show up on many scan tools.  Our OBDScan application will read these sensors and we provide a real time AIR/FUEL ratio meter for performance applications.

All you need to run our Windowstm software is at least Windows 95, a 66Mhz 486 and 5 meg free disk space, and 800x600 display.

Any of the data shown in the Vehicle Data Window can be selected for display in a Graphical format. The large graph is easy to read at a glance for more efficient troubleshooting.

OBDScan is very easy to use, just plug the protocol converter into the vehicle diagnostic connector and the computer then run the OBDScan program. The protocol converter automatically initiates communication with the vehicle computer and the OBDScan program will display data, trouble codes and reset trouble codes with user friendly controls. For a more technical description of the Protocol Converter click here.
